REPTILES & AMPHIBIANS IN NATURE

RANA was originally founded in 1986, as an expert group for the study and rescue of Reptiles and Amphibians in Nature, and later expanded to other fields of biology and nature conservation & habitat management. How RANA came into being (see attached historical overview).

TOADS ON ROADS
Since its origin RANA operated to get this problemacy under the eyes of the large public and coordinated toad and frog rescue operations from roads in Belgium in more than 80 localities.  RANA presented the results at an international TOAD TUNNEL conference organised with the British Fauna & Flora preservation society and the German company ACO.

MIDWIFE TOAD
RANA elaborated habitat rescue and relocation action of midwife toads (Alytes obstetricans) in Flanders (Belgium) together with the European School and the Royal Donation.

GARDEN PONDS
RANA created a network of pond gardens and protection of natural ponds in Belgium and Italy with the support of the Dutch pond manufacturer UBBINK.

ARBO
RANA participated at the creation of a biodiversity center, mainly focussed on reptiles and amphibinas of the BeNeLux and was sponsored by the company LEVIS.
